Deli is Delighted to Serve

Lottery Field sales representatives choose the Video lottery Retailer in the Spotlight based on the retailer’s contributions to the community, creative use of Video Lottery to increase Lottery sales, improvements to the playing environment, benefits provided to employees, and investments in the business. Winning retailers are awarded $250 cash, a Retailer in the Spotlight plaque and 2,000 Bonus Points for their outstanding efforts! Congratulations to this month’s winner!

"Customer service is the most important part of our business" said Daren Roberts, Director of Operations for Jasper’s Food Management, which is the parent company for the West 11th St. Jasper’s Deli, one of several in the Eugene area. "We make sure customers have what they need, without having to ask." Lottery profits allowed management to remodel the deli last year, offering a cleaner, more welcoming atmosphere for guests, according to Roberts. It allows the company to give employees more benefits, including membership in a 401K program, medical benefits, and paid vacations. Jasper’s Food Management is very involved in supporting causes that contribute to the quality of life in the community, such as the Eugene Mission, the YMCA, charitable fund drives for deseases such as muscular dystrophy, along with school and senior events. "The Lottery gives us more opportunities to better our business." Roberts concluded.

Richard’s Deli Shines

At all Richard’s Delis, comfort and friendliness has been their staple since day one. The Richard’s Deli located in Beaverton in Raleigh West, offers a play environment that is both fun and comfortable in an effort to better serve their guests (rather than "customers"). They boast a staff of well trained team members (rather than "employees") that take pride in their workplace and wish to make it as inviting as possible. Richard’s Deli provides employee and management training to create a strong and unified team atmosphere that has helped add to their success.

Team members make sure to keep all machines clean knowing that a clean machine is a happy machine. On top of keeping the environment clean, another focus is to make the play area inviting. Richard’s tasked their staff with solving the guest demand for a cup holder while playing Video LotterySM games. The solution? Tables were placed in-between VLTs as to accommodate their guests’ needs. "It’s all about giving the guest what they want" says Operations Director Midge Hough.

Excellent Customer Service Brings Players Back!
Just Ask Springfield’s Fast Track Pizza!

Our new Video LotterySM Platinum Spin Series™ games have created buzz among retailers and players everywhere, which inspired the staff at Fast Track Pizza in Springfield. Their team was especially excited when Kevin Lyon of Eugene won $6,000 playing the Platinum Spin Series line game Russian Treasure® there in December.

Due to their excellent customer service and knowledge of Lottery games, Fast Track Pizza brings in a wide variety of customers. They always strive to make their guests feel at home by getting to know them individually, which makes their players want to come back.

Robert Miller, Nicole Anderson, Jena Norton and Christine CaraveoJena Norton, general manager, says "Our team really gets to know our guests. It is one of the most important parts of our business."

In addition to practicing great customer service, the staff also works closely with their Lottery field sales representative to learn more about all Video Lottery games, so they can easily explain each game to their customers. In their spare time, staff members also study the Video Lottery help screens to further educate themselves on each game.
